Christopher, then known as Tyler Baker, auditioned for the part of Stone Cates on the serial series General Hospital in 1993; the character was subsequently filled by actor Michael Sutton. Tyler Christopher was cast in the part of Nikolas Cassadine for the serial in April 1996; he signed a three-year contract and recorded his first scenes in late June 1996. Christopher decided not to renew his contract with the show in June 1999. Following his daytime departure, Christopher made evening appearances.
