Christopher, then known as Tyler Baker, auditioned for the part of Stone Cates on the serial series General Hospital in 1993; the character was subsequently filled by actor Michael Sutton. Tyler Christopher was cast in the part of Nikolas Cassadine for the serial in April 1996; he signed a three-year contract and recorded his first scenes in late June 1996.
