He is serving as the 39th Minister of Railways, 55th Minister of Communications, and 2nd Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Since 2019, he is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Vaishnav began working actively in Odisha in 1994 after joining the Indian Administrative Service in the Odisha cadre.
