Khan was suffering from supranuclear palsy, a degenerative condition. On December 28, 2018, he was admitted to a hospital in Canada, where he stayed with his son and daughter-in-law while receiving treatment for “breathlessness.” Sarfaraz Khan, Khan’s son, announced his father’s death on December 31, 2018 (EST). His burial was conducted in the ISNA mosque in Mississauga, and he was laid to rest at Brampton’s Meadowvale Cemetery.
